After months of hard work Trecastle Y.F.C. were ready for the competitions of Rally Day. The Members and supporters, trainers and motivators had prepared very well to make sure that the day would be fun and competitive.

The Y.F.C. Rally Day was held at Great House Farm in Talgarth on June 7th 2014. There had been downpours early that morning with thunder and lightening, but the sun was out on our arrival at 9.00 a.m. Many of the events were themed on The Great Wars and remembering those who sacrificed their lives during those conflicts, several clubs were dressed accordingly. Several competitions are Pre Rally Day events and Trecastle had entered nearly all these, and so the results of these events were available during the day. When I arrived some of our members were already in the middle of a food competition, and were keenly cutting vegetables and cooking on gas stoves. Josie was ushered into a Flower Arranging competion at the outset, whilst the girls in the Dance Competition limbered up for their event soon after.

It was a really busy few hours with parents and members running about to sign in to competions. It is amazing to see a huge barn converted into what I see as a set of classrooms with the members busy, trying their best to impress judges, and gather a first, second or third place. All the Y.F.C. competitors within the barn were dressed in white coats and their concentration level, and enthusiasm was impressive.

As the events unfolded, and the day became hotter more results were coming in from events from the field. Trecastle did well, especially with Josie picking up a First Place in The Voice competition and many of other other competitors doing really well. The table of scores is shown below.

The main event at the end of the day was The Tug-o-War, and Trecastle are no slouches when it comes to this event. They had been practicing for weeks, in the rain and in the sun, but nobody expected Trecastle to pull every other team "off the field" !!! The three teams were sensational and didn`t lose an end. The supporters on the edge of the field were frantic and very excitable, and certainly enjoyed watching all three Teams go through to the Royal Welsh Show, July 21st-24th. Josie will also Represent Brecknock Y.F.C. at The Royal Welsh Show.

This was indeed a good day for Trecastle Y.F.C. Many people commenting about the sportmanship and enjoyment that our members ooze as they compete. Trecastle has something special ! and it is noticed by many. The sensation was The Tug of War teams who all worked together, and m,aybe they have produced a record in that they never lost an end!! and they all go through to represent Brecknockshire . Beat that!!k
