The ‘Maersk Alabama’ became the first U S cargo ship to be hijacked in more than 200 years when heavily armed Somali pirates boarded her on April 8th 2009. Held hostage by the pirates, and trying to protect his ship and his crew, Captain Phillips begins to realize that they have a story to tell too. With stakes high, the crisis intensifies and he and the pirates find themselves at the mercy of forces beyond their control.
