Abergavenny Food Festival
- Usually the third weekend in September A great festival for all the family to enjoy, showcasing some of the great Welsh products that have achieved recognition in the True Taste /Gwir Flas Food and Drink Awards in recent years. With access to the markets (200 stalls). There are also individually-ticketed masterclasses, tutored tastings, talks, forays and restaurant tasters – and a full Fringe programme too. Brecon Fringe Festival
- Runs happily alongside the Brecon Jazz Festival and offers an extensive and electric programme of music and arts including blues, rock, jazz, country, ska, poetry, dance etc in addition to family entertainment. Usually played in pubs and beer gardens the event is mostly free and the atmosphere in individual venues is friendly, warm and vibrant.

Brecon International Jazz Festival
- Brecon International Jazz Festival. Usually held on the 2nd weekend in August Brecon is about experiencing the great Jazz legends alongside contemporary superstars, and the vibrant energy of a cutting-edge younger generation of musicians; it’s a festival of enormous dynamism and scope. Held in the Brecon Beacons National Park, with many of the performances set in the beautiful grounds of Brecon’s Christ College, and Brecon Cathedral with its magnificent acoustics, Brecon Jazz uniquely combines the best of music, mountains, atmosphere and space. Hay Festival
- Hay Festival is renowned for its stunning programme of international writers and thinkers. Hay Fever is a festival for families and children and is packed with favourite authors and workshops. Llandovery Sheep Festival
- Usually held in late September the Festival is only a ten minute drive from Trecastle and offers live music, craft stalls, a lantern procession, poetry and story reading just to name a few. Covering two days it's a perfect way for all ages to spend the weekend, whether you want to join in or just watch the fun a warm welcome is offered to everyone. Food and drink are available throughout, with everything on offer from a spit roast, curry, organic burgers to afternoon tea and cake.

National Showcaves Centre for Wales
- Situated a short drive from Trecastle the National Showcaves Centre in Wales offers a fun and exciting day out for all the whole family. Discover the history of the caves and how they were re-discovered by two local brothers in 1912. Enjoy the extensive cave system and formations including the magnificent Cathedral Showcave where its possible to hold your wedding ceremony. Take a stroll through the live size models of the dinosaurs and learn how they hunted and what happened to them in the end. The showcaves has ten attractions ensuring a action packed day for all ages to enjoy.

Red Kite Feeding Station
- Just a short drive from Trecastle in the remote western area of the Brecon Beacons National Park you will find the Red Kite Feeding Station, where it's possible to see Kites, Buzzards and other birds in spectacular aerial displays. The centre was designed to fit naturally into the landscape, it has wheelchair access and provides the perfect cover to witness these birds competing for food. Booking is strongly advised as the birds are only fed once a day.
